“Help in the broadest sense is, in fact, one of the most important currencies that flow between members of society because help is one of the main ways of expressing love and other caring emotions that humans express.”
― Edgar H. Schein, Helping: How to Offer, Give, and Receive Help

As OD Practitioners, we are often called to offer help to our clients and organisations. Yet, how do we offer help, and how is our help received? When we can offer help meaningfully to our clients and from a place of love, our relationships and impact grow. This event aims to help us consciously hone our helping skills.

Help could take many different forms. In this event, we identify 3 types of help. We will spend our time practicing these 3 types of help in pairs and trios, refining our skills to ask for, give, and receive help from one another and reflecting on the process together.

At the end of the event, you will have:

Learned about 3 types of help
Practiced asking for, giving and receiving 3 types of help in pairs/trios
Received help from others to progress your current challenges
Reflected on your own experience and relationship with help

As a bridge from our previous events, we will be continuing our tribute to the impactful work of Ed Schein and also build on our ability to listen, as offering help requires us to deeply listen first. It is through listening and helping that we begin to build our competency of “Trusted Advisor”, as identified in the global OD competency framework.

Please give some thought to a challenge you are facing that you’d like to receive help on. We hope to see you at this event!
