Event description

Barre3 Bethesda, Potomac Physical Therapy & Rehab, Well Nourished Mamas and Family Therapy Center of Bethesda are collaborating to offer a Pre & Postnatal Health Series. During this 4-week series of one-hour workshops, we’ll offer facilitated discussion around fitness, nutrition, mental health and family dynamics. Whether you are expecting, recently had a baby or still navigating postpartum life - these sessions are supportive, inclusive and evidence-based.

Week 1: Pre & Postpartum Fitness Workshop / March 7th, 10:45am - 11:45am

Join Licensed PT Dorina Kroll of Potomac Physical Therapy & Rehab and get expert tips and exercises for postpartum recovery and pelvic floor rehab. You’ll also learn how to best engage your core throughout class & in your everyday life. Workshop is designed for pregnant and postpartum moms at any stage.

Week 2: Pre & Postpartum Nutrition / March 14th, 10:45am - 11:45am

Join Prenatal Dietitian Nutritionist Jamie Adams, founder of Well Nourished Mamas (https://wellnourishedmamas.com). Whether you are a mom or mom-to-be, you’ll leave this session with a clearer understanding of the relationship between nutrition, stress reduction, and a healthy pre and postpartum journey.

Week 3: Navigating Mental Health Hurdles / March 21, 10:45am - 11:45am

In the days, weeks and months after welcoming your new child, there can be many highs along with many lows. Join Gabriela Barber (MS, LGMFT) of Family Therapy Center of Bethesda as we explore some of the mental health challenges that come with parenthood. In addition to her clinical work, Gabriela is a doctoral candidate in Maternal and Child Health at UMD, where her research focuses on the intersection between reproductive health/decisions and mental health.

Week 4: Navigating Family Dynamics with a Newborn / March 28th, 10:45am - 11:45am

Whether this is your first child or your fourth, family dynamics are bound to change when a new baby arrives. Join Kate Alcamo, therapist and owner of Family Therapy Center of Bethesda, as we discuss how to help your family make a smooth transition after the birth of your newest family member. Our facilitated discussion will help you understand the ways in which your family may be most impacted, learn helpful tools and resources to assist all family members as they adjust, and will give you an opportunity to feel heard and supported by other moms who are going through the same life transition.
