Pre-election Oceans Debate

As Aotearoa New Zealand heads to a General Election, what are our political parties proposing to protect and restore the health of our ocean?

Join WWF-New Zealand for a pre-election debate bringing together representatives from New Zealand's political parties to discuss the future of our marine environment. Hear directly from party representatives as they outline their policies and priorities for protecting our ocean, restoring marine biodiversity, and ensuring healthy, resilient seas for future generations.

The debate will be moderated by senior journalist Andrea Vance and livestreamed by Stuff.

This is an opportunity to hear where political parties stand on the key ocean issues facing Aotearoa New Zealand and compare their approaches before voters head to the polls.

Date: Thursday 13 August 2026

Time: Doors open at 5.30pm, and the event will start at 5.45pm.

Venue: Lower ground floor, National Library of New Zealand, Wellington. Entry via the entrance on Aiken Street, and drinks and nibbles will be available in the adjoining Tiakiwai foyer.

Registration is essential as seating is limited.
