    Event description

Become Mini Volunteers: Repurpose Preloved Toys, Make a Big Impact!

Are you looking to make a positive impact in your community while having fun? Join us for our Preloved Toy Workshops: Mini Volunteer Sessions!

    Why It Matters:

    • In Australia, 27 million toys end up in landfill each year, contributing to 6% of global plastic waste.
    • By participating in our sessions, you'll help repurpose these toys, reducing waste and bringing joy to more children in our community.

    What’s Involved?

    In these sessions, you’ll:

    • Help prepare toys for sharing with other children, promoting reuse and sustainability.
    • Participate in hands-on activities that highlight the importance of reducing waste and giving toys a new life.
    • Engage with like-minded volunteers and make a difference in the lives of children and families.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Explore Toys: Learn about toy lifespans and their environmental impact.
    • Hands-On: Clean, sort, and package toys for reuse.
    • Swap Session: At the end of the workshop, you can swap toys with others.

    What to Bring:

    • A bag of toys, games, or books in good condition (limited to one shopping bag).
    • All children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult so both the parent/carer and child can get involved.

    Simple rules to follow:

    • Ask yourself: Is this item good enough for my friends or another child?
    • Check that all battery-operated items (toys, games and books) are in working condition and replace their batteries when necessary (this is a safety issue)
    • Battery-operated toys should have battery cases secured by screws or other means to prevent children from prying them open.
    • We may refuse any items that are not in the desired condition, which you will need to take home with you.
