Fiáireka Precipice Tour
Description
You are invited to gather outside in the wilds of winter with us. Precipice is a series of community rituals that interweave original folk music, storytelling + earth-honouring activities. These dark cold nights beckon us to remember our ancestors and the home truths we lost somewhere between the displacement from our lands and the colonisation of another. We invite you to come as you are and reflect on your relationship with culture and place, in community around the fire.
Each gathering will bring together a truly bespoke line-up of local performing artists and/or eco-spiritual facilitators, followed by a potluck dinner and Fiáireka’s 90-minute folk music journey, which doubles as an album launch. The tour has been designed as a communal quest for a deep connection to culture, spirit and Earth, with each event offering its own unique approach; you are welcome to book tickets for one evening or for the whole tour! Join us for an intimate experience of cultural re-enchantment, a composting of colonial ways and a cosmic dance between the ancient and the unknown.
Tour Overview
4-9PM - Saturday 20th June - RAVEN HOUSE - Box Hill
A pre-solstice evening of mythical storytelling (Eloise Oxer), eco-spiritual poetry (Kiri Bear), community potluck dinner and a folk music journey (Fiáireka) beneath the huge gumtree, home to a special raven family.
4-10PM Sunday 21st June - BLACKBERRY GULLY - Warrandyte
A community gathering among the blackberry bushes, to celebrate Winter Solstice with a ritual (Kate), community potluck dinner, a folk music journey (Fiáireka) and silent sauna session to close.
3-9pm - Saturday 27th June - THE RAMBLE HOUSE - Thornbury
A musical evening of folk punk in the wilds of Thornbury’s suburbia. Opening with a rambling circle facilitated by Shelley O’Meara followed by a community potluck dinner and a folk music journey (Fiáireka).
5-10pm - Saturday 11th July - PUKAWIDGEE - Warrenbayne
An immersion into the warm spirit of this eco-conscious community under the stars. A tapestry of local musical offerings, followed by community potluck dinner and a folk music journey (Fiáireka).
Camping: available + $20 directly to Pukawidgee + potential for further festivities the following day
3:30-9:30PM - Saturday 18th July - OAK LABYRINTH - Clunes
An eco-spiritual evening with the volcanoes. You will be guided through a labyrinth and enter into ritual with a big, beautiful Oak (Yonke Van Geloven), followed by a community potluck pizza cooked in earth ovens and a folk music journey (Fiáireka).
Camping: available + $10 donation to Yonke
About Fiáireka
Fiáireka is a six-person queer folk collective, based in Naarm, who have spent the last year tending to their decolonial music project, Precipice, directed by Holly Rowan. Their music is co-written and original, born from collective improvisation and deep play. With traditional folk instrumentation, spoken word and powerful vocal ensemble, this collective will take you on a profound musical rollercoaster, holding modern chaos in the steady palms of our ancestral pastimes, so we may walk ourselves home.

What to bring:
Picnic Blankets and warm blankets
Coats, Hats, scarves, gloves + warm socks
Wintery food for potluck dinner
Flasks of tea
A personal item for the altar eg. A significant photo, feather, stone that can survive the cold
Optional wood for the fire
Camping equipment (if applicable)
Please note:
to fully immerse in the tenderness of this event please refrain from using your phones, alcohol or drugs until after the ritual
this is a strictly leave no trace event - please take responsibility for any waste
our gatherings will take place outside. In the case of wet weather, each location has an indoor alternative
please make sure to bring enough food for yourself if you have dietary requirements to avoid disappointment
exact locations will be sent via email after ticket purchase, closer to the event
please email us if you have any specific access requirements and we will do our best to accommodate
you can bring children at your discretion - we won’t be holding back from swearing and there are moments of noise and emotional intensity - if you want to discuss further get in touch
with the fuel crisis in mind, we encourage people to share lifts and in more remote locations, we will have shuttle cars available to pick up and drop off from nearby train stations (this will be coordinated via WhatsApp)
