Precon: Advanced Power BI Techniques, Tips, and Tricks

Power BI is not a data analytics tool, but a data analytics toolbox! Each of the tools that make up Power BI work well for the casual user. They also contain advanced features that can:
- tackle tough data engineering challenges
- encapsulate sophisticated business and data modeling logic
- create a robust and engaging data visualization experience
- provide the latest in AI data interaction.

This day-long session will explore advanced techniques across the Power BI toolset, including:
- sophisticated data transformations
- complex DAX expressions
- highly interactive analytics environments
- vetted and refined AI interactions with organizational data.

Along the way, you will see tips and tricks to make these advanced techniques easy to reproduce in your own environment.
This session will be presented in a hands-on learning environment so you can try out each new technique and take home completed samples.

Experience using Power BI to import and visualize data is recommended. However, you do not need to be an expert going into this session.

Brian Larson

CCO and Partner at Superior Consulting Services

Brian Larson is Chief Creative Officer and partner at Superior Consulting Services. Brian has over three decades of experience designing and implementing data analytics and custom database solutions. As a consultant to Microsoft, Brian served as a member of the original SQL Server Reporting Services development team contributing to the original codebase of that product.

Brian is also a long-time author for McGraw Hill, with almost 8,000 pages in print on Power BI and the Microsoft data analytics environment. He is currently in the final phase of developing a college-level course for McGraw Hill on data analytics using Power BI. As a presenter, Brian has delivered at a variety of conferences including PASS Summit and the Microsoft BI Conference, as well as various PASS SQL Saturday events.
