Preparing for Paris 2024: In Conversation with Kate McLoughlin, Chef de Mission and 2024 Australian Paralympic Team Member
Event description
Join us to explore the organisational dynamics and logistics of preparing for Paris 2024 from an Australian team management perspective with Kate McLoughlin, Chef de Mission and 2024 Australian Paralympic Team Member, in conversation with Professor Carol Mills, Director of the UTS Institute for Public Policy and Governance and Professor Simon Darcy, UTS Business School.
Through increased exposure on free to air television and the growth in profile of its top athletes – Paralympic sport has seen exponential growth over the past 10 years. The Paralympic Movement takes pride in being a catalyst for changing the perception of disability through sport yet still battles for funding, recognition and equality.
With Paris 2024 around the corner, and the long runway to the 2032 Brisbane Paralympic Games already beginning, this seminar will explore the challenges and the rewards. From barriers to grassroots participation and navigating the classification system, to planning for the delivery of a universally designed Paralympic Games and the creation of a world class performance environment for the Australian Paralympic Team.
Drinks and Nibbles will follow the presentation from 5:30pm.
Please note, this event will be live-streamed. Zoom link will be provided in the lead-up to the event for those who select live-stream.
