Presentation by A/Prof Mai Skjott Linneberg from Aarhus University Denmark
Description
Knowing what to know? Business' engagement in the biodiversity crisis
I teach and supervise business major students in Denmark at Aarhus University (AU). My research looks at how businesses deal with sustainability at the micro level, here I am particularly interested in opening the black box of company implementation and integration of sustainability work.
This presentation will introduce some of my recent work with colleagues in management and biology, regarding how competing pressures at the policy, market and company levels hold firms back from acting on biodiversity loss, and why real progress needs action at every level.
I will also introduce my new project, initiated during this research stay at the University of Adelaide hosted by Professor Melissa Nursey-Bray. We would like to take the next steps and ask how businesses come to know what they need to know about biodiversity, and what role Indigenous and local knowledge plays in that process.
Light refreshments after the presentation.
