Preservation North Carolina's Annual Conference brings together a wide variety of people interested in the field of historic preservation, from professionals to homeowners to state and local governments. Join us in Rocky Mount and Tarboro for educational sessions, tours and special events!
Rocky Mount is a mid-sized city centrally located on the fall line that separates North Carolina's low coastal
plain from the hilly Piedmont. This railroad town and former tobacco hub is divided between Nash and Edgecombe
counties and is home to several inspiring rehabilitation projects including Rocky Mount Mills, the Imperial
Centre, the Booker T. Theater, and the city’s Romanesque-style 1903 passenger train station.
Nearby, Tarboro is an older river town and the county seat of Edgecombe County with a colonial Town Common. Considered one of the most architecturally distinguished small towns in the eastern part of our state, local landmarks include Calvary Episcopal Church and Churchyard, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, the Matthewson House, Coolmore, and The Barracks.
