Preserving olives – three easy ways to make delicious preserved olives
Event description
Preserving olives – three easy ways to make delicious preserved olives
Who doesn’t love these Mediterranean morsels on a homemade pizza, in Pasta Sauce, as a dip, a snacking alternative or James Bond style in a Martini?
You certainly don’t need your own Olive tree; there are plenty in Auckland’s streetscapes, in parks and they often go unharvested on private properties (so simply ask for permission to harvest - but more on that in the workshop).
In this short 1 hour workshop I will show you three easy delicious ways to preserve olives so you won’t need to buy any in the future. Once you know these basic techniques the sky is the limit as to what flavours you can add.
Bring 3 small jars along so you can take your first homemade olives home and get started on bigger jars – this is the time to go out and harvest and preserve olives.
When: Thursday 27 April 2023, 5.30-6.30pm
Where: Gribblehirst Community Hub, 5 Cabbage Tree Swamp Drive
What to bring: 3 small jars (feel free to bring olives if you have access to some)
Workshop cost: self-assessed $15-$25 (according to your financial abilities,
no questions asked)
This workshop is aiming to help reducing food waste and is supported by Auckland Council
