Preserving your Summer Harvest
Event description
If youāve ever grown your own food, you know what itās like to be faced with a mountain of summer produce that needs using. There are many ways to catch and store the energy and nutrition in your produce while itās in abundance so you can enjoy it in leaner times, but it can feel overwhelming to know where to start.
In this free presentation and workshop, Anna The Urban Nanna will guide you through a wide range of food preservation techniques, and help you understand whatās involved in terms of cost and energy input, and give you a handy guide so you know when to use each method. Youāll taste various preserved foods, and then make your own delicious, adaptable summer preserve to take home with you.
Includes examples of different preserved foods; a display of useful books and resources; tasters of several preserved summer foods; your take-home preserve, and follow-up resources.
Please feel free to bring any surplus produce, seeds, cuttings, plants, gardening magazines etc. to swap and share!
