Your 2027 Presidential Candidates
Emmett Morrison (Progress)
G’day! I’m Emmett and I’m proud to be running with Progress to be your 2027 Guild President. I’m a Business student from the regions who is passionate about student representation. During my time as a faculty councillor on the Guild SRC, I’ve seen first-hand the good an active, passionate, and effective student union can achieve. As the only student ticket that is willing to do whatever it takes to fight and win for students, I’m proud to be backed by the Progress team this election. We’re ready to progress our Guild and carry on our work from last year. We’ll fight to extend shuttle bus hours to ensure students are able to travel safely between campuses at night. We’ll finish the fight for free printing to help ease cost of living for students. We’ll guarantee that QUT has a beating cultural heart through the continued expansion of student bars. After finally achieving 40% SSAF after years of struggle, Progress is the only ticket that will use this funding to benefit the hard-working students who paid for it. Isaac Oliver
My name is Isaac Oliver (they/he/she) and I’m currently living and studying a double degree in Behavioural Science (Psychology)/Social Work on unceded Jagera/Turrbal lands. For the past year I have been your Welfare Officer, walking and laughing alongside you at the KG Foodbank and GP Foodbank Pop – Up. That is why this year I am ready to be your president candidate of the Elevate team. This year, we have seen the Guild undergo a transition period as services are expanded or introduced to support students during an enduring cost – of – living crisis. However, this period has also seen a prioritising of political party interests over student interests. That is not good enough, and not who we need to lead the Guild to an equitable and inclusive future where all students feel like they can belong to a diverse student community. My goals are to continue expanding and protecting our cherished Guild initiatives while also advocating for stronger QUT and Guild policy that helps all QUT students feel represented. So if you want a team who are fighting to put student interests back on the agenda at the Guild, vote [1] for Elevate this election.
