Pretty Puttanesca / Caleb Flood / Sandcastle
Event description
Studio 34 presents a Saturday evening of East Coasterly music in our lounge.
Caleb Flood is a musician and performance artist from Richmond VA. Currently he is playing a group of fingerstyle guitar pieces that were written in the last couple of years. Relatively new to approaching this music more seriously, this project has been a way to process through grounding repetition. Some of these tunes are inspired by migratory birds, others by difficult sleepless nights, and others by the warmth and consistent presence of loved ones. Caleb also plays in the band Cold Toast, and under the name Pollywog, an experimental and electronic project. Hear them here.
Sandcastle, the moniker for the enigmatic songwriter Sam Kassel, has been an elusive, captivating figure within the underground music scene for over a decade. Known for his clever lyricism, distinctive vocal style, and irresistibly catchy melodies, Sandcastle’s music transcends conventional boundaries, captivating listeners with its otherworldly charm. Pretty Puttanesca is a folk duo from Baltimore and Connecticut, playing original guitar music. They first met each other 4 days after moving to Philly, and have been making songs together ever since. Pretty Puttanesca on Bandcamp.
