Pride in design
Description
Design has the power to affirm, include, and transform. This Pride month, join Today and Queer Town for an evening to explore how we centre LGBTQIA+ experience. Queer Town founder Archie Beetle (they/them) will open with the context that matters: a brief history of Pride, the Australian landscape in 2026, and a frank look at the barriers queer communities face when the design of everyday spaces, services, and experiences doesn't account for them. Hunter Lee (he/him), Senior Strategic Designer at Today, will take you across two very different contexts: co-designing hospital spaces for LGBTQIA+ communities with NSW Health Infrastructure, and embedding trans and gender diverse Gen Z creators inside Nike’s cultural research. They’ll unpack what queer design looks like in practice. You’ll leave with a set of queer design principles to take back to your own work, and learn what happens when queer experiences shape a project’s process and shared outcomes. Speakers
Expect honest conversation, good company, and a few things you'll actually use. We will be photographing the event. |
