Pride Summit 2026

We are pleased to invite you to the inaugural Pride Summit 2026, hosted by the Pride South East Alliance.

The Summit will bring together lived experience guest speakers and professionals working with the LGBTIQA+ communities to share knowledge and promote best practice inclusion for the LGBTIQA+ communities.

The Summit will run from 10am till 2.30pm.

Registrations open from 9.30am with morning tea provided.

Guest speakers include:

Mitch Brown

Mitch Brown is a former AFL player for the West Coast Eagles, a proud bisexual man, and a passionate advocate for inclusion, wellbeing, and positive masculinity.  Beyond his ten-year professional sporting career, Mitch has dedicated himself to social impact work,  particularly in First Nations affairs, and to creating safer, more authentic environments for men in sport  and society.  A father to two young sons, Mitch combines personal experience with professional insight to deliver  engaging, honest, and inspiring talks on leadership, resilience, and the power of authenticity. 

delsi Moleta

delsi Moleta is an award-winning LGBTIQA+ advocate, educator, TEDx speaker and the Founding Director of Unicorns, one of Australia’s largest queer event platforms. They are also the author of Being Valued, a statewide workplace toolkit developed with WorkSafe Victoria focused on preventing gendered violence against LGBTIQA+ people at work. Named one of Australia’s Top 50 LGBTI Leaders by Google and Deloitte, delsi also made legal history in 2019 as the first Australian LGBTIQA+ person to successfully win an anti-LGBTI social media defamation case. Their work centres queer joy, inclusion, accessibility and creating safer spaces where people can truly thrive.

Workshops will be held across two sessions, lunch in between:

• Workshop Session 1 from 10.50am - 11.40am

• Networking lunch (lunch provided) from 11.40am - 12.40pm

• Workshop Session 2 from 12.45pm - 1.35pm

Workshop Session 1:

Anastasia Sabatino

Title: Sexuality, Assumptions and Stigma in Sex Worker-Inclusive Practice

Description: Does seeing a client of a different gender invalidate a sex worker's sexuality? This session explores how sexuality, identity and desire are often misunderstood in sex work, with a focus on gay, bi, queer, trans and LGBTIQ+ sex workers. It unpacks assumptions about labour, performance, disclosure and “risk”, and considers how these can shape stigma, service responses and client safety. Participants will learn practical ways to build more confident, respectful and informed responses when working with LGBTIQ+ sex workers.

Language Justice Network

Title: From Tools to Allies: Working with Interpreters and LGBTIQA+ Multicultural Communities

Description: This presentation looks at how language barriers shape safety, disclosure, and service access for LGBTIQA+ people from multicultural and refugee backgrounds. We will unpack the common system and practice-level barriers that show up in real service settings, including interpreter availability, confidentiality fears, accidental outing, mismatched terminology, and power dynamics in the room. Alongside this, we will share practical strategies that professionals can use immediately: how to brief and work with interpreters in trauma-informed ways, how to reduce miscommunication, and how to build trust when language and identity-related risks are present. The goal is to connect the “big picture” issues to concrete actions teams can take in everyday practice.

Headspace

Title: Art as Voice: Exploring LGBTQIA+ Identity

Description: Get creative with us in this interactive workshop exploring how art can be a powerful way for LGBTQIA+ young people to express who they are. Led by our team and Art Therapist, the session will include creative pieces, shared stories, and a look at how our programs support inclusion, identity, and safe spaces to be yourself

Workshop Session 2:

FVREE

Title: Applying the Safe & Together Model for LGBTIQA+ Victim Survivors

Description: At FVREE we have worked hard to improve safety, inclusivity and accessibility of specialist mainstream family violence services for people within the LGBTIQA+ community.

This presentation will help you to have a deeper understanding of the complexities that LGBTIQA+ people experience within the context of family and intimate partner violence. We will be focusing on how to apply a best affirming practice lens for not only LGBTIQA+ communities experiencing family violence, but particularly for LGBTIQA+ children and young people.

A part of this practice is applying the Safe & Together Model. The Safe & Together Model is an international, perpetrator pattern–based framework for transforming how systems and practitioners respond to family violence and threats to child well-being.

Justice Q

Title: Legal Health for LGTBQIA+ people Through the Lifespan

Just like physical health, legal problems can develop quietly and worsen over time if they aren’t identified early. For LGBTQIA+ people, our ability to identify, navigate and address legal issues can be compounded by systemic and institutionalised discrimination and lack of culturally safe services.

 A legal health check helps people identify legal issues before they become crises.

This workshop aims to help community members, workers, non-legal practitioners and interested people learn more about how to identify legal issues and connect in with the right help early.  

Proud 2 Play

In this interactive workshop, participants are guided through a series of activities to build their knowledge and understanding of the experiences and barriers of LGBTQIA+ people in sport and recreation. Participants explore a range of topics to support them in creating change.

OUTCOMES & IMPACT

• Gain an understanding of the experiences of LGBTQIA+ people.

• Recognise systemic and cultural factors that may limit participation or engagement.

• Explore strategies to actively challenge exclusion, bias, and discrimination.
