Primary prevention ideas workshop (Carnarvon)
Description
This practical workshop is for individuals, organisations and community members in Carnarvon who are interested in preventing family and domestic violence before it starts. Primary prevention focuses on addressing the underlying drivers of violence and building safer, more respectful communities.
This interactive ideas workshop is designed to begin the conversation about what primary prevention initiatives may be realistic and meaningful for local organisations, workplaces and the wider Carnarvon community.
Participants will explore what primary prevention is (and what it is not), consider local opportunities and challenges, and work together to identify practical ideas that could be progressed in the future.
Following the workshop, the collective ideas generated by participants will be compiled into a short summary and shared with attendees to support further discussion, collaboration and action.
Primary prevention requires a whole-of-community approach and can feel challenging to put into practice, particularly in regional communities. This workshop aims to support participants to leave with practical ideas, connections and a stronger understanding of how prevention can be embedded locally.
This is a FREE event and open to community members, organisations, workplaces and anyone interested in helping to create safer communities.
