Primary Survey - Getting the Basics Right - CALHN EMET

This full day workshop will run through the Primary Survey in a comprehensive fashion. Each component will be broken down to discuss how to both assess and provide “immediate needs” treatment.

The format will consist of 3 components:

1. Lectures covering Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Environment, Fluids and Glucose
2. Skills stations including airway adjuncts, methods of oxygen delivery and optimization of ventilation, assessment of perfusion, BP monitoring both non-invasive and invasive. How to assess the GCS score, Temperature measurement and immediate management, initial fluid administration, and measurement and treatment of abnormal BGLs.
3. Simulation scenarios incorporating all of the above with the participants required to troubleshoot patients with challenging and abnormal primary surveys.
