Print-making workshop – Line, Depth and Texture with Shelley Cowper

Enjoy innovative and artistic printmaking in a relaxed style. Experiment with several printing-making techniques such as mono-print, collagraph and dry-point. Add interest with hand-colouring and stencils to create intricately layered and richly toned prints.

About the course:

This one-day workshop is ideal to explore and loosen-up your individual artistic style. Experiment with various substrates as key plates. Dry-point on plastic plate, mono-print and matt board collagraph; combined with the application of hand-colouring and
stencils to result in unique and complex prints. Experiment with different printing inks and paper to best support your image and create depth and texture.

What students need to bring:

1) Drawing materials (e.g. drawing and tracing paper, eraser, pencils).
2) Small, sharp scissors and Stanley knife.
3) Etching Needles (e.g. etching scribe, sharp pointed tools).
4) Artist paint brushes: small-1/0.5 (soft), broad/flat (medium soft)

5) Preferred image/images to work with.
6) Apron, wear closed shoes.

Materials

Some materials will be supplied at a cost of $30 to each student and are included in the course fee. This will include consumables, such as: various substrates (collagraph and dry-point plate), printing inks and modifiers, printing paper, gloves, contact
paper, masking tape, transfer paper, cleaning agents, proofing-paper and butchers’ paper, etc.

Morning tea will be supplied. Please bring your own lunch. Please advise us of any dietary requirements.
