Printmaking Masterclass with Annika Romeyn

Watercolour monotype is a fluid and immediate printmaking process, producing a single, vivid impression. Watercolour is painted onto a plastic plate and transferred onto damp paper using the pressure of an etching press.

This technique encourages experimentation and beautifully captures each artist’s unique, painterly marks. Over this two-day workshop, Annika will guide participants through preparing and painting the plate, while building confidence in using an etching press to create original prints.

Suitable for all experience levels, this workshop is ideal for those interested in watercolour painting or exploring non-toxic printmaking techniques

About the artist:

Annika Romeyn lives and works in Canberra on Ngunnawal Country and holds a First Class Honours degree in Printmedia and Drawing from the A.N.U. School of Art & Design.

Seeking to convey the humbling and restorative experience of walking in nature, Annika combines watercolour, drawing and printmaking processes to create intricate and expansive works on paper. Her work has attracted national recognition, through awards including the 2023 Mandy Martin Art and Environment Award, the 2021 Burnie Print Prize, the 2020 Fisher’s Ghost Art Award and the 2020 National Works on Paper prize.

Annika's work is represented by Flinders Lane Gallery, Melbourne and her watercolour monotype 'Old Mutawintji Gorge 2' was recently acquired for the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery Collection.
