Fuck You Dad It's Magic: queer film shorts programmed by Rebecca Celli & Sydney Fishman

BOFFO invites you to Fuck You Dad, It's Magic, a special engagement of short films programmed by Rebecca Celli and Sydney Fishman at Whyte Hall in Fire Island Pines. Participating artists include: Angelo Madsen Minax, Aurora Brachman, Barbara Hammer, Erin Johnson, K8 Hardy, Lucas Habte, Nia Nottage, and Ryan McNamara.

Fuck You Dad, It's Magic is a film program about dancing. While some of the films in the series bring us to “the club”, literally, others capture the more figurative dances that occur in queer spaces: subtle gestures, drag performances, coded conversations, and cruising that happen in bathrooms, leather clubs, on Grindr, and even in our own bedrooms. Inside clandestine containers, there is possibility for identity formation and reformation. Fuck You Dad, It's Magic, a title taken from Lucas Habte’s included work, reveals how the dance floor and queer cinema serve as vital sites of experimentation and liberation, bringing us closer to each other and ourselves.
