    Event description

    Join us for a transformative 1-day industry intensive designed to ignite innovation and creativity!

    This is the first Project X intensive that has been ran outside of a main city and we are excited to introduce Technology in this way for regional students. We have been very fortunate to be hosted by the team at Naracoorte High School in this important milestone of supporting regional schools with access to programs of this nature.

    An introduction to Project X:

    Project X is a collaboration between Trotec Laser and STEM Fast Track, bringing together 2 viewpoints around developing critical interpersonal and manufacturing skills to support students in creative and critical thinking. Utilising our collective networks we have been able to bring to education a range of industry partners from various industries including, Space Satellite Manufacturing, CyberSecurity, High Fashion Manufacturing, Small Business, Aged Care, Wedding Event Signage, Distilleries. These partners have supplied briefs with needs for product to be developed and manufactured. Some example descriptions are noted below;

    • Intricate laser cutting of delicate $1,200 per meter Italian silk used for high fashion dresses to be showcased in Milan
    • Prototype CubeSat as a promotional tool for a Satellite Manufacturer
    • Develop a range of never before seen event décor, use modern manufacturing techniques to improving cumbersome wishing well boxes
    • Generate identification tags and name badges for an Innovation Incubation Hub
    • Laser engrave leather bound menu covers for a family run Distillery
    • Recognition awards/medallions for a CyberSecurity festival

    Students will go through a range of workshops with Teresa Janowski from STEM Fast Track around Design Thinking, Collaboration and begin the process of digesting the client brief. After understanding the client brief, the students will begin a rapid prototyping process, use advanced digital software, and produce industry standard quality product to be presented back to the industry partner.

    The industry partner will then grow and develop the project and potentially integrate into their business and give feedback back to the students.

    Some of the outcomes we expect for students are;

    • Students want to lead with technology; such as developing school based laser clubs
    • Increased project quality based around industry needs
    • Develop leadership skills, and develop interpersonal networking capabilities

    Some of the outcomes for the industry partners;

    • Be introduced to laser technology to optimise their business practices
    • Potentially build value to develop future working roles for students
