Promoting Israel In Australia
The influence of the Israel lobby on Australian politics and media
- What are the main Israel lobbying groups in Australia? What are their legal statuses? And what is their influence on Government and media?
- What is ‘hasbara’? How is the concept of ‘hasbara’ seen and understood by Jews as a civic duty and as a non-political action?
- How is Israel Lobby in Australia involved with far-right organisations? To what extent is Zionism an inherently far-right ideology?
- What was the Israel lobby’s role in the 2025 federal election? How has been the mainstream media coverage of this role?
- How authoritative have been the reports on anti-Semitism in Australia? What has been the role of the special envoy for anti-Semitism?
- To what extent has the Israel lobby been involved in exaggerating and weaponizing anti-Semitism to silence anti-Genocide activism?
To answer all these questions and more, please join us in this in-depth discussion with Wendy Bacon and Yaakov Aharon.
Wendy Bacon is an independent investigative journalist and lifelong radical activist. She has investigated miscarriages of justice, deaths in custody, News Corp’s coverage of climate change, urban developments, police corruption and most recently astroturfing in the 2025 Federal election.
Yaakov Aharon is new to journalism, having come from a background of activism. Yaakov brings unique perspectives to the Palestinian struggle, credited to his political journey away from the Ultra Orthodox Jewish and pro-Israel education of his youth. His research concerns the Israel lobby, Jewish community, party politics, and the arms trade.
