Presentation Outline: Promoting Learning Environments as the Third Teacher is critical for children’s

development, learning and wellbeing. Loris Malaguzzi and The Reggio Emilia Approach to Education

emphasis the significance of the Environment as the Third Teacher. The Webinar will take you on a journey

when creating and maintaining supportive, safe and stimulating learning environments for children. We will

consider how to support children’s engagement and participation in provocations to enhance their

development, learning and wellbeing.

Presenter/s Biography: Joanna Merton has 30 years experience in the early childhood sector and 20 years

experience in training, assessment and professional development. Jo currently works as a University Advisor

and Teaching Associate for Southern Cross University. Jo operates her own small business – Inspire Me

Professional Development Company. Jo has obtained a Master of Education, Bachelor of Education (ECEC),

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Associate Diploma of Social Science (Child Studies), Certificate IV in

TESOL and a Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing. Jo is passionate about sharing her knowledge of

behaviour guidance, children’s wellbeing (positive psychology), and fostering children’s language and literacy

skills.
