About the Instructor

Mx. Julian Rich (they/he) is a Los Angeles based educator and makerspace manager specializing in creative reuse in maker education. Seeing a need for adults to learn the same hands-on skills they were teaching their students, Julian founded Rebuild to offer approachable, sustainable handy and mending classes for all ages. Held in libraries, community spaces, and creative reuse stores, Rebuild is rooted in the belief that we—and the objects we love—are not disposable. Classes empower participants to repair, build, and reimagine, treating making as a form of care and resistance against a culture of disposability. Whether through woodworking, electronics, textiles, or craft, Rebuild fosters independence and connection, helping people see the materials around them as part of a larger story—one that can be sustained, transformed, and passed on.
