Join Auckland Council and Resource Coordination Partnerships to explore the future of coastal adaptation planning for Tamaki Makaurau.
Ngā hapori me te tahatai \ Communities and coast theme of Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri: Auckland's Climate Plan identifies the Shoreline Adaptation Plans as one of Auckland’s first steps toward adaptation planning. The development of our first generation of Shoreline Adaptation Plans, is providing a coordinated, long term management strategy for all council owned land and assets located along our regions 3,200km of coast.
Adaptation planning at scale is a developing Kaupapa across Aotearoa, stimulating questions about process, collaboration, co-design and intergenerational equity.
- What have we done well, what is working and how will we know?
- How can we work together better to improve this work, at a local, regional and national scale.
This collaborative Panel discussion will explore our relationships and connections to the coast, the challenges and opportunities that coastal hazards and climate change presents to our cultural, social, environmental and economic wellbeing, how we respond using adaptation planning processes and where to from here for successful implementation.
