Now in its ninth year, the Protective Security and Government Conference 2026 is a nationally recognised forum for senior leaders responsible for protective security, risk management, governance and national resilience.

Delivered by the Australian Security Research Centre (ASRC) in collaboration with the Department of Home Affairs’ Protective Security Policy team, the conference brings together senior government officials, industry leaders, academic experts and security practitioners from across Australia to address the strategic and operational challenges shaping the nation’s security environment.

The 2026 conference theme, Driving Protective Security Capability Where It Counts, reflects the need to move beyond compliance and strengthen the practical capabilities that protect people, information, assets, infrastructure and national interests in an increasingly complex threat environment.

The conference will be opened by Hamish Hansford, Head of Security at the Department of Home Affairs, setting the tone for two days of high-level discussion, practical insight and cross-sector collaboration. His opening address will frame the national protective security landscape and the critical role of capability, leadership and coordination in strengthening Australia’s security posture.

Exploring the Six PSPF Domains

Across the two-day program, delegates will explore the six domains of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), including governance, personnel, physical, information, cyber and supply chain security.
