Protocol's Sydney Launch Celebration: The Future of AI Policy in Australia
Description
Join Protocol for our Sydney Launch Night to celebrate the founding of our new national youth-led, tech policy lab.
This event will bring together university students from a range of degrees, researchers, and industry to explore the future of technology policy in Australia. Anyone with an interest in this field is welcome!
The evening will feature a guest lecture from Professor Kimberlee Weatherall, one of Australia’s leading scholars in AI regulation. Professor Weatherall is a Professor of Law at the University of Sydney, a Chief Investigator with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, and Co-Director of the University of Sydney’s Centre for AI, Trust and Governance.
This will be followed by an introduction by Protocol’s Founding Committee of our policy lab’s mission, ambitions and upcoming initiatives.
We will conclude with a networking discussion session, inviting attendees to reflect on emerging challenges in technology governance and the role young people can play in shaping Australia’s policy response.
