Event description

Provocations—Seven Valleys Festival of BIG Ideas will enable the Lithgow (Seven Valleys) community to engage with the big ideas that are shaping their future as this region transitions away from its traditional coal-based economy to a new set of opportunities.  We'll explore how eco-cultural tourism, the creative industries, and innovative circular economy businesses will shape our region's future. We'll also learn about new innovative approaches to education for the senior high school

PROGRAM

1. Poetry Slam Performance—Lithgow High School  "My truth to power about our future" 

2. Keynote Talk—The Three Pillars of Regenesis, by Barbara Lepani, will draw on her new book, The Regenesis Journey, which will be launched with copies of the book for sale at the event.  

3. Poetry Slam Performance—La Salle Academy  "My truth to power about our future"

4. Keynote TalkBaran Nalgarra: Strength & Learning Through Togetherness, by Lynn Daniel, will outline Kindlehill School's new curriculum for its senior students, based on undertaking projects-in-community that focus on 'problems that matter'

    5. Poetry Slam Performance—Kindlehill School  "My truth to power about our future."

    6. Panel Discussion— Shaping the Future of the Seven Valleys 

    • Tracey Callinan, CEO of Regional Arts NSW on the role of the creative industries
    • Michelle Zeibots, UTS, on circular economy initiatives
    • Trevor Evans of Secret Creek Sanctuary, on eco-tourism
