Event description

In a world that feels fractured, Partnerships for Trauma Recovery is where hope begins again.

Partnerships for Trauma Recovery's Awaken Hope 10-Year Gala celebrates the people who have built PTR’s momentum over the last decade: our network of leaders, allies, staff and supporters. It’s an evening to mix and mingle with the community shaping resilience and belonging in the Bay Area and beyond.

This special evening will feature stories of courage, music, food, an auction, and a shared vision for a more just future.

What PTR Does

Partnerships for Trauma Recovery (PTR) helps people rebuild their lives after experiencing war, torture, or persecution. We provide therapy, case management, and connections to housing, medical, and legal support, and make it accessible in more than 25 languages.

Since opening in 2015, PTR has helped individuals and families rebuilding their lives, helping survivors develop sustainable pathways to healing and resilience. Together with our supporters, staff and volunteers, we have created a safe space where recovery and justice can thrive.

Why Welcome Kits

Every survivor’s journey with PTR begins the same way: stepping into an unfamiliar space, with few physical resources to begin rebuilding lives. That’s why we created welcome kits.

PTR welcome kits are tailored to survivors entering long-term care. They include quality essentials for hygiene and health, including soap, sanitary items, razors, and more, and serve as the first signal of safety and belonging.

PTR’s Growth

What began with 296 care sessions in 2015 has surged to 2,819 in 2024 — an average of 28% year-over-year growth.

Through therapy, case management, and connections to housing, medical, and legal support, we have served survivors from over 60 countries, and supported an additional 5,000 community members through outreach efforts.

To celebrate our 10 years of successful trauma recovery programs, we’re raising $50,000 for 300 more welcome kits as we welcome more survivors who are beginning care with PTR.

Giving Tiers

Your support during the gala helps us reach the $50,000 goal:

  • $10,000 = 60 welcome kits

  • $5,000 = 30 welcome kits

  • $2,500 = 15 welcome kits

  • $1,000 = 6 welcome kits

  • $500 = 3 welcome kits

  • $250 = 1 welcome kit

Every gift widens the circle of belonging.

About PTR

Communities collapse without places where people can heal, rebuild, and belong. PTR is where that work happens.

Since 2015, we have served more than 1,000 survivors from over 60 countries. With therapy, case management, and connections to housing, medical, and legal support, PTR provides a foundation for healing that is culturally responsive and linguistically accessible.

Support for PTR is part of the larger movement responding to violence with solidarity and healing.
