Puppet Building Workshop
Event description
Does your child love to be creative? Join Bridges this school holidays as we present Puppet Building, facilitated by film maker David Quarrell (concept creator of Aussie Snake Wranglers), puppet master Warren Duxbury (builder of Agro and prop designer on Star Wars), comedian and stage performer Jacob Trelor and, artist Kate Neal from Kate Victoria Creative (Trade Mutt print designer).
This workshop combines storytelling with puppetry to help participants explore the importance of establishing and sustaining relationships. By using puppets initially to act out fables or well-known stories, participants will develop an understanding of narrative structure, character development, and societal roles in a fun and educational manner. The end performance will be filmed in front of a screen that will have a background that participants will design on an iPad using the software pro-create.
Children will:
Develop a story and characters
Design and build a puppet
Design and illustrate a background
Learn puppet techniques
Perform a puppet show
Goals:
Explore how characters/people build relationships.
How they fit into society.
Understand the moral lessons and their relevance to social dynamics.
Create puppets to bring characters to life and demonstrate these lessons.
