Purlu-Thapa: Heart Open Vol. 1
Event description
Purlu-Thapa: Heart Open – Volume 1 is an intimate lounge retreat centring Blak, Brown and First Nations women and creatives, hosted in Browns Mart's courtyard.
Join us for an evening of neo-soul music and powerful spoken word featuring the Manifesto of Saltwater Women. There’ll be mocktails on arrival, light food, a photowall backdrop, and a photographer to capture the glow.
We’re also celebrating the launch of Wanga the Podcast — a storytelling series that centres the voices of First Nations, Bla(c)k women, and regional and remote artists across so-called Australia.
Wanga, meaning “to speak, to make noise” in Burarra language, is a sonic offering rooted in truth-telling, art as resistance, and deep listening.
Held during APAX week, this is a space to exhale, feel beautiful, and be surrounded by community.
Whether you come with your sisters, aunties, friends or solo – you’ll be welcomed with warmth.
Allies are welcome. Queer and LGBTQIA+ mob embraced.
Dress to feel radiant.
