Coffs Harbour high school band, Purple Disturbance are hitting the road. The band comprised of year 11 students are playing the Link & Pin in Woy Woy on Saturday 31 September and The Front Gallery, Canberra on October 1.
Purple Disturbance have earned a reputation on the North Coast of NSW as a highly entertaining and energetic 4 piece band, drawing influences form the Ramones, Joy Division, Talking Heads and Captain Beefheart. The band are led by charismatic vocalist, Thomas Downes who writhes and sways his way around the stage, possessing an electric presence way beyond his years.
The band have been active, juggling school and performing gigs with the likes of the Dune Rats, Goons of Doom, Moving Stills and a slew of local bands between Grafton and Coffs Harbour.
Purple Disturbance have released two songs, When Whales Explode and Fragile Freakout which are available on all streaming platforms and have just recorded their 3 single at Valley Sounds recording studio with the renowned Pater Dyball. The song, Milly and Gus will be released over the next few weeks with an animated video clip being undertaken by international surfer and artist Ozzie Wright.
Taking advantage of the school holidays, Purple Disturbance bring their Purple Pirate Party tour to the Central Coast of NSW and to Canberra.
