Push & Pull, Stroke & Stab – a solo exhibition by Luke Abdallah

Join us for one night only, to enjoy the striking work of Luke Abdallah at Goodspace in Chippendale.
“Push & pull”, “stroke” and “stab” are verbal descriptors and close translations of the physical actions used by blind painter Luke Abdallah to make his mark on the canvas.
Showcasing a new suite of gestural abstract paintings, this exhibition invites you to appreciate the medium and process of painting from Luke’s unique perspective. Created during and after the 2020 COVID lockdowns, these heavily textured compositions capture Luke’s creative and emotional energy as Luke responded to personal and global events.
Using a range of brushes, palette knives, and even his cane to apply thick swathes of impasto and acrylic onto the painting’s surface, these expressive marks - sometimes violent, sometimes remedial in their application - embody Luke’s movements.
Two sessions are available for this event on Wednesday 1st December:
Session 1 - 5.30pm - 7.00pm
Session 2 - 7.30pm - 9.00pm
