Pymble Institute Research Conversations with Dr Bosco Rowland
Event description
We welcome Dr Bosco Rowland from Monash University and Communities that Care Australia as our 2025 Pymble Institute Research Fellow. Dr Rowland will share his research into the impact that care and responsibility make in the lives of children.
This presentation will focus on how children benefit from being part of a community that is kind, caring and responsible, and how children benefit from opportunities to demonstrate prosocial behaviour to others. Dr Rowland will explain ways these actions can be enhanced in the home, as well as in the neighbourhood, classroom, sports teams and through service.
As a leading researcher in public health and prevention science, Dr Rowland is committed to community-based initiatives that improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people through prevention strategies. Dr Rowland’s research and guidance has already contributed to the development of the College’s new service framework and to Junior School initiatives, including the program of community service visits and Kindness Captain activities.
The Pymble Institute is excited to welcome Dr Rowland to Pymble Ladies’ College in 2025 to expand our understanding of how schools and families can build healthier communities. We look forward to sharing the conversation with our Junior School parents.
