Queer By Nature: Wild Play
Description
Play is something many of us were told to grow out of, and for queer folk it was often policed or cut short. Play happens all through the natural world, in otters, crows, dolphins and parrots. This December, Queer By Nature invites you to play for the sake of play, as a small act of joy and rebellion.
We’ll listen to Darebin Parklands, then imagine embodying something in nature you feel drawn to and wonder what it says about your queerness. You’ll make something inspired by it and share it in a relaxed, playful way.
What to expect:
A short, easy intro to play and queer ecology
A guided listening meditation and a slow wander through the parklands
Creative play with art materials, inspired by a plant, animal or element you feel drawn to
A playful group share and closing circle
No art experience needed. All materials and light refreshments provided.
Please bring a journal and pen, a water bottle, a hat and sunscreen, and comfortable clothes for sitting, moving and being outdoors. We’ll be mostly outside, with shade and an indoor option if the weather turns.
This is an inclusive, neuro-affirming space. Participation is always by invitation - everything is optional, and you can engage in whatever way feels right for you.
Standard ticket: $40 (+ Humanitix fee)
Community rate: $20 - please use the code QBN2026 at checkout if this supports your access. No explanation needed.
Join us in co-creating an afternoon of queer belonging, creativity, and connection with the living world. Come play with us to close out the year.
Tickets for good, not greed Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity
