• Where is the 2026 Research Showcase being held?

  The Centre for Cardiovascular Health and Research at the University of Queensland have supported our 2026 venue, which will be held in the Mary Emelia Mayne room in the Mayne Medical Building of the Herston campus.

  Find your way to the 4th floor of the building using the lift or stairs.

• How much are tickets?

  Non-member tickets for the Research Showcase are $70.

  QCVRN members are eligible for $50 tickets.

  Students are offered a 50% discount on all tickets.

• What will the Research Showcase include?

  The QCVRN runs an Annual Research Showcase and Networking Event to support Queensland-based cardiovascular researchers to share their work and network with peers. The theme for this year is: Inclusion by design: Elevating equitable research.

  The current program for 2026 is available to view.

  Professor Maree Toombs will start the day with a keynote talk, followed by our consumer representative.

  We're planning a panel session to discuss co-design approaches to elevate equity in cardiovascular research, with panellists spanning all stages of a research career.

  In the afternoon, Dr Bushra Nasir will present on her research delivered in partnership with regional and remote communities.

  The day will also include QCVRN member presentations, as well as opportunities for networking and poster presentations.

• Does the QCVRN offer support for travel costs to the Showcase?

  For QCVRN members based outside of Southeast Queensland, we are offering travel grants by application to those who submit an abstract to present.

  Southeast Queensland includes Ipswich and West Moreton region, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Please check this map and only apply if you live outside the Southeast Queensland area.

  Make sure you select the option to be considered for a travel grant and add the requested details when you submit your abstract.

  Grants up to the value of $500 will be offered to successful members, to be administered via their institution. Funding should be primarily used for transportation. Where funding for accommodation is requested, please outline why this is required in your application.

• How can I present at the Research Showcase this year?

  Our program will include many opportunities for QCVRN members to present:

  • Lightning talks are 6 minutes (4 minute talk plus 2 minutes for questions) with max 5 slides.

  • Oral presentations are 15 minutes (12 minute talk plus 3 minutes for questions).

  • Posters will be displayed throughout the day and presenters will have the opportunity to talk to attendees during the poster session.

  Abstract submission is now closed. Members will be notified within the coming weeks if they've been selected to present.

• What awards are available at the Research Showcase?

  QCVRN members are eligible for our awards presented at our Awards Ceremony on the day.

  We will be awarding:

  • The GrantEd Group Cardiovascular Research Excellence Award

  • People’s Choice Award

  • Best Oral Presentation Prize

  • Best Lightning Presentation Prize

  • Best Poster Prize

  Nominate yourself or a colleague for The GrantEd Group Cardiovascular Research Excellence Award through our form. The winner will receive a $1,000 prize voucher.
