QDMTF - Evacuation Centre Theory
Event description
An evacuation centre is a designated building specifically selected as a safer location that is not anticipated to be affected by a hazard. Evacuation centres provide people displaced by disasters with the essentials of life, including shelter, food and water.
Who should do this training:
Shiloh Church Goodna, Ipswich Show Society, Karalee Community Association, Community Centres; Ipswich City Council Community Services; and Ipswich City Council LDCC Reserve personnel who are interested and willing to support the community by working in an evacuation centre.
Working in an evacuation centre can be a challenging but rewarding experience working directly with residents affected by disaster.
Aim:
This course aims to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to work in and/or manage an evacuation centre.
Objectives:
- Understanding the needs and requirements of an evacuation centre
- Understanding the essentials of evacuation centres
- Roles and responsibilities of personnel working in evacuations centres
- Provide tools to assist in planning and setting up an evacuation centre
- Provide tools to assist in managing an evacuation centre
Prerequisites:
Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements
Course details:
This training will be delivered face-to-face only. There will be no online option available.
Date – Monday, 30 September 2024
Time – 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, Registration from 08.45 am
Location – 1 Nicholas Street Building, Level 1 - Event Space 2.
