Day 1: DAY 1: Tuesday 15 August 2023
We depart the Laurieton & United Servicemen’s Club at 8am and the Port Macquarie Coach Terminal at 8.45am travelling north to Nambucca for our morning tea stop from the coach as we head for the Gold Coast and our visit to the magnificent “Outback Spectacular”. Onwards for lunch at the Grafton RSL Club. Mid-afternoon we have a break at Murwillimbah services before reaching our overnight accommodation at the Mermaid Waters Resort.
DAY 2 Wednesday 16 August 2023
After breakfast we are off to the hills! Mt Tambourine here we come. Time to peruse the shops and have morning tea on the “Doctors Walk”. Late morning, we return to the coast and Harbourtown!! A shopper’s paradise full of retail therapy stores! While here you can grab a little lunch (at own expense). We return for a restful afternoon at the resort because tonight we are off to the R. M. Williams Outback Spectacular Show. A fantastic display of horsemanship, and this show will tell the tale of two struggling farmers Reg and Marge, with the community’s help and courage, overcome a stunning, yet unforgiving life on the land. While viewing all this from our personalized grandstand seats, we enjoy a scrumptious 3 course dinner accompanied by 2 drinks of either wine, beer or soft drinks. Tea and coffee are served as well. Home a bit late but, what a show!!
DAY 3 Thursday 17 August 2023
After a hearty breakfast we farewell mermaid waters and head for our morning tea stop (own expense) at the infamous “New Italy “complex. Here, stories on how it was founded, peruse the galleries, and hopefully watch a glass blowing demonstration. All this while enjoying morning tea.
Our lunch stop is in “Woopi” (Woolgoolga) at the RSL club. View their ANZAC painted memorial wall and the New Seikh Temple while here.
We return to Port with a comfort stop on the way after our magnificent 3 day “Sojourn” to The Gold Coast!!
