While AI offers tremendous opportunities to solve many problems, it also has the potential to introduce other difficult issues. Ethical AI practices ensure the protection of privacy, the promotion of fairness by mitigating bias, and the prevention of harm, fostering an environment where technological advancements contribute positively to the community at large.

The speakers for this event will offer inspiring and actionable ways to implement AI ethically based on their personal experiences.

· Dr Karnika Bansal - Lecturer in Law. specialising in Intellectual Property (IP) at JCU Karnika will discuss IP concerns related to Generative AI such as the actor’s strike in the United States

· Shelley Cazervan - Data privacy consultant at Privacy 108 Shelley will highlight privacy issues around the use of AI and how to mitigate them.

· Michael Bromage - PhD candidate QUT Michael will discuss his work fostering social inclusion in Townsville using technology and how AI can support community development projects
