Qld Black Dog Ride to the Red Centre 2021

Black Dog Ride to the Red Centre aims to start a national conversation about depression and suicide prevention. Help us get the country talking and join us on this epic journey to the beautiful red centre of our great country.

We will have ride groups from all states and territories of Australia travelling to meet up at our final destination, Alice Springs NT. Riders from the Northern Territory will join the Queensland ride group in Tennant Creek to form a combined QLD/NT ride group to go on to Alice Springs.

Ride Registration

Registrations to ride all the way to Alice Springs with Black Dog Ride are strictly limited. Registrations close when all places are filled, or at 5pm AEST 30th July 2021.

Registration for the full Black Dog Ride, Red Centre 2021 includes:

Entry and participation in the fully organised Ride
Back up of a Support Vehicle en route to Alice Springs
Commemorative Red Centre 2021 cloth patch, small round sticker and two large stickers
Commemorative Red Centre 2021 lapel pin
Commemorative Red Centre 2021 T Shirt
Entry and participation in the Alice Springs all states group ride, Saturday morning, 14th August
Black Dog Ride Red Centre 2021 celebration dinner, Saturday 14th August (drinks not included)

Ride Itinerary

The detailed ride itinerary and accommodation options will be sent to you in early 2021. Please do not book accommodation until you receive that update, as we will have some suggestions for each stop. That helps keep everyone together as well.

The broad itinerary for this ride is as follows.

Check in: Check in Saturday, 7th August 2021 at 7:00am, departure at 9:00am.

Start point: Woodpeckers Bar and Grill, Cnr Rowley & Facer Rd's, Burpengary Meadows QLD 4505. There will be a separate northern starting point at Caltex Paget City Gates, Cnr Bruce Highway and Empire st Paget, Mackay 4740 with registration from 7.30am.

Total Distance: Burpengary Meadows to Alice Springs - total distance 3,504 kms

Daily route:

Saturday August 7th - 556 kms (Burpengary to Biloela)
Sunday August 8th - 355 kms (Biloela to Emerald)
Monday August 9th - 416 kms (Emerald to Longreach)
Tuesday August 10th - 395 kms (Longreach to Hughenden via Winton)
Wednesday August 11th - 522 kms (Hughenden to Mt Isa)
Thursday August 12th - 660 kms (Mt Isa to Tennant Creek)
Friday August 13th - 508 (Tennant Creek to Alice Springs)

Saturday 14th August end of ride events:

All States and territories 1/2 hour group ride in Alice Springs on Saturday 14th August, check in at 9:00am for 9:30am departure, location to be advised.

All states and territories celebration dinner in Alice Springs, 6:00pm Saturday 14th August, venue to be advised.

Ride Preparation

It is imperative that riders ensure their bike is registered, roadworthy, and in proper working order, ready for the significant distance ride ahead. It is also imperative that riders and pillion passengers are fit and well enough for the journey. Black Dog Ride does not take responsibility for these matters.

From February 2021 Black Dog Ride will be sending Rider Updates via email periodically in the lead-up to the ride. Please read these updates to become aware of the information contained in these updates prior to the ride start.

Fundraising

We will open a fundraising portal in January and let all registered participants know how to join the portal.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Merchandise

For the month of May 2021 we will make our Polo Shirts and Red Centre 2021 T Shirts available to order online through our shop. This will also be announced in a rider update, and in our Newsletter, closer to the time.
