QLD: Reimagining Disability Employment and Volunteering

QSport andΒ Disability Sports AustraliaΒ isΒ hosting aΒ forumΒ in partnership withΒ Victoria University. AΒ Building Inclusive Sport ClubsΒ initiative, this in-person forum will bring together leaders with disabilitiesΒ to discuss how the Australian sportΒ sector canΒ reimagine disability employment and volunteering.

The understanding of accessibility and inclusion in sport is growing. There is a lack of understanding within the sectorΒ of how to practically employ and volunteerΒ people with disabilities their organisations. Australian sport is in an exciting position to improve its environment for people with disabilities to thriveΒ in sport.Β 

At the forum, we'll discuss:

  • Creating welcoming environments.Β 
  • Reimagining opportunities and pathways for people with disability to be employed and volunteer in sports.Β 
  • Recruitment and retention strategies for people with disability.Β 
  • Sharing available resources that can increase organisations capacity and knowledge.Β 

Leaders with disabilitiesΒ from grassroots to elite level sport will share their lived experiences and best practices for engaging people with disabilities.
