The Queensland AMD Invitational Weekend have has been confirmed for the weekend of the 3rd to the 5th of February 2023. This will be hosted by Yaboola Pinball Club and held at the Bayside Events Centre in Wynnum. 

Yaboola Pinball Club is proud to be the host and would like to thank all of our sponsors, techs, repairers, venues, clubs, & players by making this a truly Queensland weekend of Pinball. We will have at least half the machines on carpet next to the super comfy lounges just a few minutes walk from the train and The Waterloo Bay Hotel with full air conditioning and free undercover parking.

The COMPLETE schedule for the weekend will consist of the following:

Friday 3rd February
6.30pm - 4 hour Flip Frenzy

Saturday 4th February
10am - IFPA QLD State Championship
11am - 4 Strike Group Elimination side comp
6pm - Target Matchplay

Sunday 5th February
9am - QLD Invitational Tournament

There will also be a Best Game tournament being run over the weekend.  Qualifying will open Friday 3rd, with finals taking place Sunday night. 

Tickets for the Flip Frenzy, 4 Strikes and Target Matchplay can be pre-purchased via this site.  The QLD Championship, QLD Invitational and Best Game events will be pay on the day only.

All State Championships will be contested under a best-of-seven (7), head-to-head, single elimination format.  All finalists for their State Championships will be seeded according to their best 20 WPPR results from that state.

In all cases for all head-to-head matches, the highest available seed will play the lowest available seed, second-highest plays second-lowest and so on.  Highest seeded player of the match will get first machine choice from the machines available and will alternate for each successive game.  The other player will choose play order for that game.

 24 finalists will have the following payout structure:

  • 1st place – 28% of the prize pool
  • 2nd place – 16% of the prize pool
  • 3rd place – 10% of the prize pool
  • 4th place – 6% of the prize pool
  • 5th through 8th place – 4% of the prize pool each
  • 9th through 16th place – 2% of the prize pool each
  • 17th through 24th place – 1% of the prize pool each

Invitational Tournament details:

Qualifying Stage:

All players will play 13 single-game rounds of Group Matchplay, using IFPA point scoring. The Top 24 players will advance the to finals. Ties will be broken according the most 1st & 2nd place finishes. Ties for 24th spot will be broken by a single-game playoff on a machine to be chosen at random.

Finals Stage:

The Top 8 players will receive a first-round bye.
Seeds 9-24 will be grouped into 4 groups of 4, playing 3 games per round, using Slaughter pairings. The top 2 players in each group will advance to the next round. Ties for 2nd place in any group will be broken by a single-game playoff drawn at random.
This process will continue until the final round of 4 players.
The winner will be the player with the most points in the final round. IFPA point scoring will be used for all rounds.
