Join us for an evening of auditory exploration at QUADRANT X – the tenth edition of dadageek's quadraphonic electronic music series, featuring spatial sound performance and real-time video art. Hosted at dadaLab, this event showcases the creative potential of quadraphonic sound—an audio format that utilizes four speakers positioned around the listener to create a more immersive listening experience.
Unlike traditional stereo, which limits sound to a left-right axis, quadraphonic audio allows artists to position and move sounds in a 360-degree space. This spatial approach opens up new possibilities for composition and performance, enabling more dynamic and engaging sonic experiences.
Each artist performing at QUADRANT v10.0 has developed a piece specifically for dadaLab’s 4-channel system, using spatial techniques to explore movement, texture, and atmosphere in sound. The result is a listening experience that encourages deeper attention to how sound interacts with space and perception. Prepare for an experience that challenges convention, transcends stereo, and envelops your senses.
This edition of QUADRANT features a special collaboration between Grace Sydney Pham (aka Hexpartner) and percussionist Damon Martinez, presenting a new composition inspired by brutalist witch house aesthetics. The evening also marks the return of ambient noise artist Jaycie Carver, accompanied by live visuals from pulseCoder. Rounding out the program is the debut performance of wlfrdbrml(y), a new collaborative supergroup featuring Deferlow, Tim Wiens, and Edward Schexnayder.

Grace Sydney Pham
Grace Sydney Pham is a second-generation Vietnamese American composer, multi-instrumentalist, and VJ based in Austin, TX. Unconstrained by genre, Grace has performed neoclassical darkwave, post-punk, synth pop, freak folk, experimental electronic, singer-songwriter, noise, and improvisational sets while living in Austin over the past two years. Outside of music they enjoy programming and manipulating live generative visuals for other musicians and new media artists, as well their own immersive audiovisual work. Grace enjoys playing a plethora of local mixed-genre shows and electronic music showcases (Exploded Drawing and &bops), providing local support for a variety of diverse touring acts (Mortiis, The Body, and GHOSTWOMAN), performing at various themed events (Houston Cinema Arts Festival, Friends Fair Launch Party), and VJing for other musicians (including Austin bands nolo, Holy Wire, and SKATELAND) and MeMerMo Monday.
Damon Martinez
Damon has been playing music for almost 3 decades. His current focus is on live electronic drumming and drumset improvisation. The setup that he will be using for the upcoming quadrant performance will feature analog drum sounds and effects being triggered by a unique array of drum pads and ipads, which will be running a custom midi performance software for electronic drums that he has been designing and building for the past few years. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in music performance from the Eastman School of Music in 2012 and has performed with orchestras at the Tanglewood, Brevard and Chautauqua music festivals and most recently with the Neue Philharmonie in Berlin, Germany. At Eastman, he performed the Schwantner Percussion Concerto with the school's top wind ensemble, and in 2007 he received 1st place at the Percussive Arts Society Internal Convention (PASIC) high school marimba competition in addition to performing with the Texas All-State Orchestra. Since graduating from Eastman he has performed in a variety of electronic and electro-acoustic settings with artists such as Dawn Richard, Patriarchy and Fatal Jamz. He has been teaching private music lessons since 2012 and currently teaches drumset lessons out of his drum studio in East Austin.
Jaycie Carver
Jaycie Carver is an experimental ambient/noise artist who currently resides in Austin, TX. Taking the phrase "One man's trash is another man's treasure" way too serious, Carver creates haunting and abrasive soundscapes using homemade instruments often constructed from whatever trash from a nearby dumpster can be repurposed.
Deferlow - wlfrdbrml(y)
“There are only three people who can taste the color twelve. And two of them are Deferlow.” Deferlow (Nathan Crepeault) is one of the foremost purveyors of real-time electro-acoustic skullduggery in the debatably adequate city of Austin, TX. His wayward predilections for incessant, tasteless glitching betray a decadent lack of respect for audio signals. From time to time, this undisciplined, self-indulgent sonic vulgarity can be enjoyed responsibly from within a well controlled environment… but only when the atmospheric conditions are not too modulating of Nathan’s most delicate constitution.
Edward Schexnayder - wlfrdbrml(y)
Edward Schexnayder is a periodic visual artist, more regular sound maker, and persistent lover of the least amount of anything to do anything. He almost always fails, sometimes spectacularly, at the latter. He occasionally performs under the moniker noht.
Tim Wiens - wlfrdbrml(y)
Who am I? I don’t feel qualified to answer that question. I truthfully don’t know the answer. There are times I wish I knew. There are times that are smaller, by magnitudes, That I am ok with not knowing. I like wind. I love strong wind whipping my clothes violently across my body I go outside when the storm is at its strongest. The chaos calms me. To be deemed worthy of being swallowed by the storm… I can only dream.
pulseCoder (visuals)
pulseCoder is the electronic music and live a/v project from new media artist Kyle Evans. Focusing on the intersection of art and technology, his work commonly explores glitch aesthetics, spatial audio, and audio-visual immersive experiences. He has produced and presented a wide range of tech-art performances and new media installation work throughout North America and Europe at venues such as MUTEK San Francisco, Transmediale in Berlin, the International Computer Music Conference at Columbia University, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, Vancouver New Music Festival, and the GLI.TC/H festival in Chicago.
