Quads & Cheese: A vertical tasting
Event description
St Bernardus ABT 12 is widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world. A classic Belgian quadruple that adheres to the original 1946 recipe. Weighing in at a hefty 10% ABV, ABT 12 is a balanced dark brew with a full ivory-coloured head. The high ABV and robust flavours lend this beer well to the ageing process. That is what our vertical tasting is all about.
We have managed to score ourselves magnums of ABT 12 from 2013, 2014Â and a mountain of fresh ABT kegs. Join us on Tuesday July 18 as we crack these epic beers and taste them side by side. To accompany this boozy flavour explosion we have teamed up with The Cheeseboard (Albion) to give you a plate of cave aged cheese to accompany your aged beer. Saint Bernardus will be smiling upon us!
We are stepping up the cheese game this year, because good booze requires good food. Curated by The Cheeseboard we are bringing together three different vintages of Barossa Valley Cheese Co, La Dame. A semi hard goat’s milk cheese with a natural rind and smooth complex paste. Wendy from The Cheeseboard will present three differing ages of this same cheese to match with the three aged St Bernardus. What a treat.
To guide you through the night, we have brewer extraordinaire Ian Watson, Cheese Cave expert Wendy and via video link from St Bernardus Brewery, Hannes. There is a very limited amount of the vintage beer available, so tickets are essential. Each ticket gets you a taster of the three different years of ABT 12, and a platter of cheese and crackers.
*Side Note: If you need a little more Quad for your night, we are also tapping Petrus Nitro choc Quad, La Trappe Quad and Madocke Quad!Â
