⚛️ Quantum Careers Night (SOLD OUT)
Curious about quantum computing, quantum technologies, and the careers emerging around them?
Join us for an afternoon of industry insights, career discussion, networking, and food, bringing together students, industry representatives, and a range of university clubs and societies interested in the rapidly growing quantum sector.
This event is aimed at students who want to better understand where quantum technology is heading, what kinds of roles are emerging, and how students from computing, engineering, mathematics, physics, and related fields can enter the industry.
🎤 What to Expect
The event will begin with a 50-minute industry panel featuring professionals working across quantum and adjacent technology fields. There are a couple of companies attending.
Panelists will discuss topics such as:
⚛️ Careers in quantum computing and quantum technology
💻 The role of software and computer science in quantum
🔬 Research versus industry pathways
🎓 Skills employers look for in students and graduates
🚀 Where the Australian quantum industry is heading
💼 Internships, graduate roles, and future opportunities
Following the panel, there will be an extended networking and food session, giving students the opportunity to speak directly with panelists, industry representatives, and other attendees.

The event is co-hosted by UQCS and EBESS, with support from other clubs who are helping promote the event to their members and broader student communities.

Quantum Australia

PsiQuantum
After more than a decade of academic research, PsiQuantum was founded on the premise that photonic qubits, together with leverage of mature semiconductor manufacturing processes, could provide a fast path to a commercially useful, million-qubit quantum computer. Now, PsiQuantum builds thousands of wafers of quantum chips in a tier-1 foundry, operates cryogenic cabinets designed to support hundreds of chips, advances fault-tolerant algorithm development to solve critical problems across industries, and is developing a modular quantum computing platform designed to increase capability and scale. UQCS
UQCS is the largest computing society in Queensland, run by students for students. As a society UQCS engages with a broad range of student interests, from digital design to software engineering. We are an inclusive club focused on development of the next generation of innovators through regular events spanning educational, social, and industry emphases. UQ EBESS
EBESS is Queensland's Largest Electrical Engineering Student Society. They improve the university experience for our members by running social, academic and career networking events. We cater for electrical, mechatronic and software engineering majors.
UQ PAIN
UQ PAIN (Physics Club) is a student-led society at The University of Queensland that brings together students with an interest in physics, science, and discovery. The club creates an inclusive and approachable community through regular social events, demonstrations, experiments, and informal discussions, with activities designed to be engaging regardless of a student’s prior physics background. From space and hands-on experiments to liquid nitrogen demonstrations and weekly gatherings, UQ PAIN provides a welcoming environment for students to connect, learn, and share their enthusiasm for physics.
UQ Science Society
As the affiliated society for the Faculty of Science, they work to enhance the science student experience at UQ. They focus on three crucial aspects in order to do this – social events, careers events, and events to connect the community. From our Careers Fair to our Panel discussions, pub crawls and trivia nights, they do it all!
UQ Maths Students' Society
MSS is the UQ Mathematics Student Society, run by students to promote and improve the experience for math students at UQ. They run a range of events including math talks, industry talks and social events.
UQ MARS
UQ MARS (Mechatronics and Robotics Society) is a community for anyone with a keen passion for the fields of robotics, mechatronics, and their applications. They aim to foster the development of the robotics skills of our members through a variety of extra-curricular activities, including competition teams, support workshops and social events. While primarily made up of engineering students, they welcome anyone looking to get involved.
QUT AI/ML
The QUT AI & ML Society is Queensland's largest university society dedicated to artificial intelligence and machine learning. AIML is a student-led community for students across Engineering, IT, Data Science, Business, and other disciplines. Whether you are new to AI or already building projects, AIML gives you clear ways to get involved. Through hackathons, competitions, industry events, and project nights, we help members turn their interest into practical experience. With project topics ranging from regression and clustering to transformers and large language models, AIML gives members a place to gain experience and contribute to meaningful technical work.
QUT Physics
The QUT Physics Society is a student-run club at Queensland University of Technology (Gardens Point) that hosts social gatherings, trivia nights, astronomy and stargazing sessions, programming workshops, and undergraduate research networking events.
QUT MATHS SOC
The QUT Maths Society is a group dedicated to creating a community of people who love maths!
UQ SKIRTS
Skirts is the student-run women in engineering student society at the University of Queensland. Their aim is to provide that extra support to female engineering students, whether it be through developing their networking skills, or simply helping in the transition from high school to university.
UQ MESS
MESS is the Mechanical Engineering Student Society that aims to deliver the best academic, professional and social events to support you in your studies, prepare you for your career and give you a much needed brain break. They are aimed predominantly at mechanical, aerospace and mechatronic engineering students, although anyone who is down for a good time.
GEEC
The Griffith University Engineering Club (GEEC) aims to connect engineering students from all disciplines through open labs, projects, and social events. Students from outside engineering are also welcome to get involved. GEEC runs open labs every Tuesday from 4–6 PM and Wednesday from 4–5 PM at N44. These sessions provide students with an opportunity to work on personal, club, or university projects while meeting and collaborating with other students. Workshops are also occasionally held during these times. GEEC hosts a range of social events, including pub crawls, poker nights, trivia nights, and sausage sizzles. The club also runs Networking Nights, giving students the opportunity to connect with industry representatives, explore potential career opportunities, and begin building professional networks.
