Quartet - a play by Ronald Harwood
Description
Quartet
Written by Roland Harwood
Directed by Linda Groundwater
Presented by MATES Theatre Genesis Inc
Quartet is a comedy drama about three retired opera singers, Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred, living in a retirement home for artists. The story focuses on them as they prepare for an annual concert to celebrate Giuseppe Verdi’s birthday. The preparations are disrupted by the arrival of Jean, who used to be married to Reggie. She still acts like a diva and is now refusing to sing in the concert, but the show must go on…
Quartet humorously and poignantly explores aging, rivalry and the enduring passion for music as the quartet attempts to overcome their personal issues to perform the famous Rigoletto quartet.
