Queen Porter Stomp at Wauchope Senior Citizens
Description
We’re excited to bring Queen Porter Stomp to Wauchope Senior Citizens on Sunday 15 November for an afternoon of brass-soaked swing and river-born rhythm.
Queen Porter Stomp conjure a unique kind of mangrove swamp magic. Drawing on the serpentine, muddy currents of the Hawkesbury River, their sound swirls somewhere between a raucous New Orleans street parade and the smoky haze of a late-night speakeasy. A blaze of horns meets a swinging rhythm section and a banjo sharp enough to cut through a moonless night, all held together front and centre by Crystal Barreca’s honey-like voice.
From Woodford to Falls Festival, the band has built a reputation for music that celebrates swing and the rhythms of the river. At the heart of it is songwriting rich with sweet harmonies, capturing the ebb and flow of love and life on the river, with a little of the grit and bustle of Sydney’s Inner West thrown in.
Formed in 2015 from the embers of the Crystal Barreca Band, Queen Porter Stomp bring an energy to the stage that is both joyful and seductive, paying homage to influences such as Norah Jones, Sierra Ferrell and Tuba Skinny.
Settle in, soak up the music and enjoy a show that’s as warm as it is lively. We can’t wait to share it with you.
