Queen's University Belfast Student Mock COP28
Event description
In recognition of COP28 (United Nations Climate Change Conference) taking place between 30 November to 12 December, the Sustainability Team, in partnership with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, are hosting their very own Mock COP.
The Mock COP will take place on Thursday 30 November, 11am to 4pm in the Canada Room, Lanyon Building.
Students will be guided through an in-person role-playing exercise of the UN climate change negotiations. Through the simulation, students will explore the necessary speed, negotiation, communication and level of action that nations must take to address global climate change.
Student teams will play the role of a delegate representing a specific nation, or interest group (media, fossil fuel business, environmental charity). Groups will work through rounds negotiating among themselves and with other teams to propose climate pledges which aim to stay within 1.5˚C, the international goal formally recognised in the Paris climate agreement.
If you have any dietary requirements, please email sustainability@qub.ac.uk by Monday 27 November.
