Dr Susannah Eliott

 Following a PhD and early research career in cell biology, Dr Susannah Eliott turned her interest to science communication, obtaining a postgraduate diploma in journalism from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). After five years in Sweden as Deputy Director for Communications at the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (a UN-affiliated environmental research organisation headquartered in Stockholm), she returned to Australia to help establish the Australian Science Media Centre in Adelaide. In 2016 she was awarded an honorary doctorate in science communication from the University of Adelaide.

Ms Tina Hill

Ms Tina Hill, Director Scaleups and The Precinct at the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport will talk about Brisbane’s major innovation hub – The Precinct and the role it plays in supporting the development and growth of promising Queensland tech startups and scaleups. Prominent alumni of The Precinct include tourism innovator Travello, deeptech company FloodMapp, multi-million dollar video editing software startup Clipchamp, and major Australian space startup Hypersoniix Launch Systems. The Precinct also houses the Queensland AI Hub and the Queensland XR Hub – dedicated to growing Queensland’s artificial intelligence and immersive technologies industries.

Megan Wooding - Queensland Museum

Megan Wooding Partnership Manager with the Queensland Museum Network and the Festival, will provide an overview of the World Science Festival Queensland, science communications success stories from 2023 and opportunities for involvement in 2024 activities across the state.
