Join our first ever face-to-face Town Hall Meeting in the fight for the licensing of the interior design profession.
Following a successful ‘Join the Fight’ NSW online forum and evidence-gathering exercise on 12th September, DIA has submitted a proposal to argue the case for licensing of interior designers under the NSW Building Authority.
Now it’s time for Queensland Interior Designers to take action!
Join us in Brisbane for the first face-to-face Town Hall Meeting to build consensus on the issues facing our profession and the next steps for action in the Queensland advocacy campaign. Commencing at 5:30pm for a 6:00pm sharp start.
What we need you to do
- Register to attend this meeting to get informed and share your stories. Registration is open to both members and non-members. All are welcome. And its FREE.
- If you aren't already, we ask you to become a member of the DIA. The stronger our membership base, the louder our voice when advocating to support your profession.
- We kindly request your assistance in completing this survey which will enable us to compile essential evidence required to present a comprehensive case. You input is invaluable in strengthening our cause.
Why is this important?
Licensing is an appropriate recognition of qualified interior designers' skills and expertise. If licensing doesn’t happen, it is our prediction that the interior design profession will disappear within ongoing changes to the definition of construction professionals. For the sake of our profession, we believe interior designers should be recognised and licensed as a separate class of design practitioners.

What is the purpose of this meeting?
- To build consensus among interior designers on the issues and process to date, what needs to happen next and how you can help us take action.
- To collect information about the multiple pathways into our profession.
The DIA continues to advocate for the recognition and regulation of interior design, ensuring the profession's growth and the protection of both practitioners and consumers.
As part of the DIA’s Accredited Designer program, we offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through our learning resources. CPD is most effective if undertaken continuously to ensure a currency of skills and knowledge. Attendance at this event is worth 2CPD points.
